Learn More About Becoming An Actor

Have you ever considered becoming a star? Yeah, you heard me correctly. Now don't lie about this, because I'll bet it applies to you like it does virtually everyone else walking this earth. There is always some small or large part of us that hopes and dreams to be famous. It's just part of being human. While some of us dismiss it and proceed on with what we call "the real world," others take it a step further. Maybe it stops at a college level acting workshop, and maybe it goes all the way to Hollywood. Do you have any idea how many individuals move out to Los Angeles ever year with the hopes of becoming the next Brad Pitt or Julia Roberts? It's more than anyone wishes to count. So, does this sound like a path for you?
Personally I have never taken an acting workshop. Now don't get the wrong idea; this isn't because I have no interest in film or Hollywood. It's simply because I'm not interested in that particular aspect. I am more drawn to the creating part. I don't want to be a mere pawn in the stories. I want to create the stories. Yep, you guessed it; screenwriting. Not that this venture isn't equally as difficult. However, it is fun to try and work at in my spare time. As long as I have a "real job" to pay the bills, it's all good. Now I did have a close friend who took off immediately after college to try his hand in acting. He had more than a single acting workshop under his belt. However, I don't think things were quite as he imagined once he arrived in Los Angeles. The up-side is that he actually had a wealthy relative to live with. The down-side is that he soon realized that every waiter, waitress, bartender and video store clerk in L.A. was also trying to become a star. REALITY CHECK! Regardless, my buddy pursued on. After a couple of years had gone by, he was still nowhere in the acting game. Soon he gave up and became a personal trainer. I guess you could call this reality. Although everyone is taking some sort of acting workshop and trying hard to become a star, most of them never make it. If you have connections, use them.
In short, there is always an acting workshop you can take to better your chances at Hollywood stardom. However, if you're not serious about this career path, I wouldn't bother chasing the dream. Those who make it are typically in it for the long hall. It takes perseverance and stamina to become a star.
